In 1958, on account of several mergers with small competitors, Dr. Richard already owned 20 busses servicing the Vienna area and connecting the capital city with the Burgenland.
1966 represents an important mile stone for the company
Dr. Richard was the first private transport company in Austria to receive a contract that allowed servicing a public transport tram line ( Straßenbahnlinie 73) by means of private busses. Tickets of the Viennese Public Transport Agency ( Wiener Linien) were accepted. As the partnership grew and deepened, Dr. Richard has been contracted to service numerous lines in Vienna ever since. Today, some Dr. Richard bus stops are even part of the other public transport organization called VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region GmbH).
Keeping the highest degree of safety and comfort for passengers in mind and adhering to rigorous ecological standards, Dr. Richard has always been keen on implementing the latest technical trends and developments. As a consequence, passengers could always enjoy modern busses with the most recent technological advancements. It is no wonder that Dr. Richard was among the first companies to utilize low-floor (kneeling) busses when they were first launched by MAN in the late 1980s.
Currently, the Dr. Richard Group operates 202 lines in Lower Austria, Vienna, Burgenland, Styria, Carinthia, and Salzburg. Nine locations, 800 busses, and a total of 1350 employees ensure a no-frills experience, both in public as well as in private bus travel.
